Liverpool reportedly opted out of hiring Ruben Amorim as Jurgen Klopp's replacement after working out how much they would've had to spend on new players.
Back in January 2024, Klopp sent shockwaves through the entire football world after announcing his decision to leave Anfield at the end of the 23/24 season.
At the time, the German said he was not able to 'do the job again and again and again and again.'
As a result, Liverpool had around four months to search for their replacement, with Dutchman Slot getting the nod ahead of the likes of Amorim and Xabi Alonso.

Former Reds star Alonso decided to pledge his future to Bayer Leverkusen, while Amorim was overlooked.
Now, the reason behind Liverpool's decision to snub the Portuguese has been revealed.
Why Liverpool snubbed Ruben Amorim for Arne Slot
As reported by The Times, Amorim was considered as a candidate to replace Klopp after coming out on top of 'the club's metrics among leading European coaches for keeping players fit'.

However, Liverpool decided against hiring Amorim after calculating it would cost around £400 million to bring in the players needed to play his system.
After being overlooked by Liverpool, Amorim eventually made a move to the Premier League as he was chosen by Manchester United to replace Erik ten Hag.
However, the 40-year-old has so far found it tough to implement his playing style as United currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.

Speaking ahead of United's Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar, Amorim was asked whether his formation could be the problem.
He replied: "I think the system is not the problem; it is the way of playing. We have a lot of problems and we are trying to work on the problems. Every system needs different characteristics. I am still really confident. I will not change that [my formation].
"Because we are out of the cups that could change a lot of things. Manchester United can have the goal to have the best players in the future. I understand that the Europa League can change things."
