Liverpool star ranks Bruno Fernandes above teammate Mohamed Salah in brave ranking

Liverpool star ranks Bruno Fernandes above teammate Mohamed Salah in brave ranking

The Liverpool forward has ranked Mohamed Salah below United’s Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Diogo Jota has offered a controversial opinion about Mohamed Salah and Bruno Fernandes when asked to compare his Liverpool and Portugal teammates.

The 2024 European Championships kicked off last week as hosts Germany dispatched Scotland 5-1 in the opening fixture of the tournament.

Portugal are among the favourites to win the competition, having recently claimed the trophy in 2016.

And, despite an early scare in the match, they got their campaign off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory over Czechia.

Jota scored a potential winner for Portugal with a clinical finish shortly after being subbed on in the second half, but it was ruled out for an offside.

And ahead of the game, the Liverpool forward ranked his finishing ability against that of his club and international teammates.

When asked by GOAL to rank his shooting skills alongside his colleagues at Liverpool, he placed himself first followed by Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.

But, when he was asked to do the same with his Portuguese teammates, he wasn’t as confident.

He said: "Oof! I might have to go last here. Cristiano, Bruno and me."

Therefore, when comparing the two lists, Jota rates the finishing ability of Manchester United captain Fernandes and icon Cristiano Ronaldo over his Liverpool teammates Salah and Nunez.

Fernandes, who plays as an attacking midfielder, scored 15 goals, assisting 13, in 48 appearances for United this season and has 22 goals in 68 appearances for Portugal.

Meanwhile winger Salah has 25 goals and 14 assists for Liverpool in 44 appearances and has scored 54 goals in his 96-match international career with Egypt.

Following the final game at Old Trafford this season, Fernandes worried United fans by suggesting his future with the club was not certain.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the midfielder said that “the club needs to want” him if he is to extend his contract, which is set to expire in 2026, although United have the option of an additional year.

Salah’s future at Liverpool is also in doubt, with the 32-year-old linked with a move to various clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
