Mo Salah contract saga takes bombshell new twist as Liverpool receive new info about his next club

A new update on Mo Salah's Liverpool contract situation has been issued, with the situation taking a surprise twist.

Mo Salah's contract saga has taken a surprise twist after Liverpool star made a bombshell admission about his situation.

Salah scored two to give Liverpool a huge comeback victory over Southampton on Sunday but caused a huge stir when he made a rare quest to speak to members of the media in the mixed zone.

The Egypt captain has rarely stopped for the press after games but went out of his way to speak about his contract situation, claiming that he has yet to receive an offer for a new deal ahead of his current terms expiring in the end of the season.

Worryingly for Liverpool fans, Salah admitted he is "probably more out than in" at this stage.

"We are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club," Salah said.

"I'm probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future."

Managed Arne Slot was asked about Salah's comments in his press conference and joked, "If you look at my line-ups, Mo is more in than out".

Salah's decision to go public about not having a new deal on the table split opinions amongst fans and pundits, with the likes of Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright having different views.

As it stands, the former Chelsea forward is able to discuss a pre-contract with clubs overseas from 1 January and will undoubtedly not be short of options given his electric form.

The Saudi Pro League would appear to be the most likely destination, yet Sky Sports say that no club in Saudi is actively trying to sign the 32-year-old at present.

That could well change in the future, especially with not many European sides being able to pay Salah's mammoth wages, which are currently at a reported £350,000-a-week.

Al Ittihad, who have Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho in their ranks, had a £150 million offer for Salah turned down by Liverpool in September 2023.
