Mohamed Salah has issued an interesting response to a question regarding his Liverpool contract situation.
Salah, 32, is out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold finding themselves in the same predicament.
Van Dijk, 33, has been fairly tight-lipped about his situation, while Alexander-Arnold, 26, has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but Salah has been the most outspoken of the trio.
After Liverpool’s 3-2 win against Southampton at St Mary’s on November 24, he discussed his future with reporters gathered outside the stadium and admitted he felt “more in than out”.

“You know I have been in the club for many years,” said Salah outside St Mary’s.
“There is no club like this but in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December, and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.”
When asked if he was disappointed at the situation, he replied: “Of course… let’s wait and see.”
Now, he has given an update on his situation.

On Sunday, Salah scored and provided two assists during Liverpool’s 5-0 win against West Ham, putting Arne Slot’s side eight points clear of second-place Nottingham Forest, with the Merseyside club having played one game less.
But all eyes were on the Egyptian’s post-match interview with Sky Sports. And inevitably, the conversation switched to his future.
When asked if he was “hoping to be able to give some good news soon”, the 32-year-old gave a blunt response.

“We are far away from that [agreeing on a new contract],” Salah said.
"But again, I don't want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff. But nothing [has] really move[d] and now I'm focused with the team."
Despite the uncertainty regarding his future, the forward has not allowed this to effect his game in a negative way. Salah currently sits top of the Premier League goalscoring charts with 17 goals from 18 league appearance to go alongside his 13 assists.
Next up, Liverpool will play host to Ruben Amorim's Manchester United at Anfield on January 5. The game will be Liverpool's first of eight fixtures in the first month of 2025.
