Liverpool legend called out online after what he did when a young Man United fan asked him to sign his shirt

Fans are not happy with the former England international.

A Liverpool legend has been called out online after he snubbed a young Manchester United fan asking him for his autograph.

Across all sports, there is perhaps no rivalry quite as fierce as that between two opposing football clubs.

Having competed against each other for decades, Liverpool and United are undoubtedly one of the biggest rivalries across all sports, with rival fans often taunting each other when one side is outperforming the other.

But the fierce rivalry is clearly also felt by the players, as a clip has emerged online of Liverpool's most iconic players brutally ignoring a young United fan asking for his autograph.

Over the weekend, some of the biggest names in football competed against each other at the Reignwood Icons of Football golf tournament in Bangkok.

During the two-day event, Team England faced off against Team World, with 24 former professional footballers split across two teams, which are captained by two Ryder Cup greats.

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler was just one of the former footballers representing England, and he has been called out on social media for refusing to sign a young fan's United kit following England's victory on Sunday morning.

Reacting to a clip of the moment shared by Sky Sports on social media, one fan wrote: "I think he is being petty here."

Another agreed, adding: "Ah, come on. Just a kid."

While one simply wrote: "Pathetic and sad."

But not all fans agreed that Fowler was in the wrong, as a Liverpool fan commented: "Good lad Fowler. Why would you sign a shirt of a team you never played for? Isn’t that just weird?"

With Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel and Nemanja Vidic among the footballers competing at the event, it is likely that the young fan had hoped he would get the chance to ask for a United legend's autograph, but decided instead to make the most of the moment when Fowler approached him.

Jimmy Bullard, Joe Hart, John Terry and Teddy Sheringham were among the other footballers playing for England under captain Lee Westwood.

Meanwhile Luis Figo, Diego Forlan, David Ginola and Ruud Gullit played under captain Sergio Garcia for the Team World.
