A unbelievable statistic about the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United has emerged following the 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Despite going into the match as heavy underdogs, United managed to hold Premier League leaders Liverpool to a draw when the two long-term rivals faced each other on Sunday afternoon.
The match marked the first time that United scored at Anfield in over six years and would have been their first win at Liverpool's home ground in nine years, had they held on to the lead given to them by Lisandro Martinez.

And following the thrilling match, an absolutely crazy statistic about the game has emerged online.
According to The xG Philosophy on social media, Liverpool created more expected goals (xG) against United on Sunday (3.01) than the infamous match when they won 7-0 (2.91).
Meanwhile, with goals from Martinez and emerging star Amad Diallo, United created an xG of 1.33 on Sunday, which, unsurprisingly, is also an increase from the 0.92 xG they created during the match in March 2023,

Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, who have both been enjoying incredible seasons for Liverpool, were the goalscorers for the home side on Sunday, as they put their side into the lead following the opener from Martinez.
Both men were also on the scoresheet during the infamous 7-0 match in March 2023, scoring two each with Darwin Nunez netting a brace and Roberto Firmino scoring the last goal of the match.
Liverpool fans and players will both no doubt be frustrated by the result on Sunday given the positions of both sides in the Premier League this season, with many fans expecting the result to be completely one-sided in their favour.

However, having comfortably beaten United 3-0 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford earlier in the season, Liverpool have earned more points against their fiercest rivals this season (4) than they did in 2022/23 (4).
And, with both Chelsea and Arsenal also drawing their matches against Crystal Palace and Brighton respectively, the Reds will only fell like they have lost ground if second-placed Nottingham Forest can beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux on Monday evening.
