A Liverpool player is set to reject the club’s new contract offer amid interest from Spain, it has been claimed.
Earlier this week Liverpool announced their retained list, confirming that Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are among a spate of players leaving the club this summer.
The Reds added that contract offers have been made to academy stoppers Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman as well as first-team shot-stopper Adrian.

The latter has made 26 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in 2019. However, there are doubts about whether he will stay at Anfield beyond the summer.
Indeed, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has alleged that Adrian has put Liverpool’s offer “aside” amid interest from La Liga.
It has been claimed that Adrian would be “delighted” to return to Real Betis, who are currently looking for a replacement for ex-Manchester City stopper Claudio Bravo.

Adrian started his professional career at Real Betis, making 32 senior appearances for the club before joining West Ham back in 2013.
The Spaniard has been open about his desire to return to La Liga before the end of his career.
“I would like to return to La Liga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle. I’m still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37,” Adrian explained earlier this season.

“You know that goalkeepers if you take good care of yourself, if you haven’t had any serious injuries lately and you’re fine, the daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete.
“I think Adrian has a long time left and it’s true that I would like to return to the La Liga. It has to be a nice, interesting project.”
