Liverpool player causing problems at loan club with unhappy teammates 'astonished' with his role

Liverpool allowed Stefan Bacjetic and Bobby Clark to leave for Austria in the summer, with the latter signing a permanent deal at the club.

A Liverpool player is causing problems at his loan club and his teammates are less than impressed.

With life starting so well for Arne Slot at Anfield, it would be easy to ignore the minor problems at play, especially when a player is out on loan at another club.

After Jurgen Klopp announced his departure from the club, many of his backroom staff followed suit with assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders moving onto a managerial position in the Austrian Bundesliga with RB Salzburg.

He left on good terms and has seemingly utilised his contacts on Merseyside to tempt some of the younger Liverpool stars to join the club.

Nineteen-year-old midfielder Bobby Clark joined the Austrians on a permanent basis after just a handful of first-team appearances under Klopp.

However, it is loan signing Stefan Bajcetic who is reportedly causing problems at the club. The Spanish midfielder joined the club at the end of the transfer window, but his debut was delayed due to visa issues.

Since this, the youngster has made five appearances – starting three matches for Lijnders side. Reports have emerged that the Salzburg players are ‘astonished’ with their manager’s want to continually start Clark and Bajcetic alongside each other in the heart of midfield, according to the Austrian newspaper the Krone.

It is reported that they “have not yet impressed in sporting terms,” and “some players have recently been puzzled about starting XI call-ups.”

Their case was not helped by Salzburg’s 4-0 home defeat against French side Brest on Tuesday evening – Clark started, while Bajcetic was a late substitute.

Despite the negativity around the result, the club’s league form is still relatively impressive, Lijnders side sit 3rd after six games with four wins, one draw and a loss so far this term.

To add to the drama, Bajcetic was fined by the club after being late to a training session due to not being able to find his boots according to Salzburg 24 via the Liverpool Echo.

"It will be around €500 (£416.72) the day before the game," said Lijnders in Monday's pre-match press conference.

The 19-year-old is set to remain in Austria for the rest of the season and will be hoping to rekindle the form that once impressed his former boss Klopp after bursting onto the scene in 2022.
