Liverpool receive major Mo Salah boost as fans convinced he will drop a 'Ballon d'Or season'

Mohamed Salah continued his brilliant form with a goal against Aston Villa.

Liverpool have received a major Mohamed Salah boost as fans are convinced he's on course to drop a 'Ballon d'Or season'.

Salah, who was inexplicably snubbed from the nominations for this year's Ballon d'Or, starred as Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Saturday.

He set up Darwin Nunez for their opener before getting on the score-sheet himself late on.

Salah is enjoying a prolific campaign this season, having weighed in with an impressive eight goals and six assists in the Premier League.

Liverpool resume their league campaign at Southampton following the international break, where most of Arne Slot's players will be away with their respective national teams.

Salah, however, has been spared from international duty with Egypt, meaning he will have a two week break before returning to action with his club.

And with no Africa Cup of Nations scheduled during this season, fans on social media are convinced the 32-year-old could be on for a 'Ballon d'Or season'.

One X user wrote: "Salah getting two weeks off and no AFCON this season... He might actually drop a Ballon d'Or season."

A second tweeted: "No AFCON to stop Salah this season."

A third added: "Great news to hear that Salah will not be going away on International duty."

Salah continued his brilliant form against Villa, assisting and scoring in his side's latest win.

Speaking after the result at Anfield, Slot praised the star winger, saying: "I'm working with him for 4-5 months. You guys have seen him for 6-7 years in a row. It is special he has scored so many goals after 10 games.

"He does it year after year after year after year. Not many players can do that. It shows the quality he has."

Salah, who is out of contract next summer, has already scored 10 goals in all competitions this season as the Reds enjoy a stunning start under new boss Slot.
