Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Liverpool’s search for Jurgen Klopp’s replacement.
Back in January, Klopp shocked the football world by announcing his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of the 23/24 season.
Since the news was made public, Liverpool have been working around the clock behind the scenes in a bid to find the perfect replacement for Klopp.
The likes of Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank have all been linked with the Anfield job.

However, Alonso revealed last month that he will be staying at Bayer Leverkusen, whilst recent reports indicate that Amrorim moving to Liverpool is unlikely.
This week, it was reported that Liverpool have now pinpointed Feyenoord boss Arne Slot as a leading candidate to replace Klopp.
On social media, transfer specialist Romano gave a brief update on Liverpool and Slot.
He wrote: “Initial contacts between Arne Slot and Liverpool, very positive. New contact to follow soon with Slot keen on #LFC job.

“Understand there's NO release clause included into his contract; Feyenoord would request compensation fee as they did with Tottenham one year ago.”
The Athletic report Liverpool have had an opening offer of £7.7m rejected as the Dutch side hold out for a higher compensation fee. While other candidates are being assed, Slot is believed to be the main focus of attention for Fenway Sports Group.
Slot has built up a good reputation after impressing with his work at both AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord.

The 45-year-old won the Rotterdam club’s first Eredivisie title in six years when he led Feyenoord to glory last season.
Speaking about what Slot could bring to Merseyside, Sky Sports Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan said: “He's been a successful coach and made Feyenoord champions playing crazy, sexy football. It is sexy what this man brings on a football pitch. There's nothing more to win for him here.
“The next step for him is to enter a club in a big league and no league is bigger for the Dutch than the Premier League. I will be surprised if Slot doesn't bite at this chance and become the manager of Liverpool next season.”
