It has been revealed that Liverpool were close to signing a Premier League superstar.
Last summer, Liverpool were faced with the prospect of losing talisman Sadio Mane after he was attracting interest from German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
As Mane’s move to Bayern got ever closer, Liverpool were starting to draw up a list of potential replacements.
Last May, it was reported that Liverpool were being linked with Tottenham Hotspur man Son Heung Min as a potential replacement for Mane.

Now, fresh reports have stated exactly how close Liverpool were to signing the South Korean superstar.
According to The Telegraph, the Anfield club were sniffing around in the knowledge that Son was likely to leave the club.
In addition, it was claimed that Son would have been interested in a move to Anfield.
However, Spurs managed to clinch a place in the Champions League and Son ended up signing a new contract with the North London club.

After missing out on Son, Liverpool brought in Darwin Nunez from Benfica in the summer behind adding Dutchman Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven in January.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has previously revealed that one of his biggest mistakes was not signing Son.
He told Korean news outlet KBS News: “One of the biggest mistakes in my life is not signing Son Heung-min.

“Outstanding player. He is fantastic, a sign of Korean football and one of the best strikers in the world.”
Speaking about Klopp’s interest, Son previously said: “I wanted to stay in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen and Dortmund wanted me.
“Both teams play in the Champions League but I thought Dortmund would use rotation more than Leverkusen.”
He added: “That's why I chose Leverkusen over Dortmund. It's really important to play regularly at my age.”
