A Liverpool player has left the club in the hours that followed the transfer deadline.
Arne Slot’s side have had a sublime 2024/25 campaign so far and currently sit top of the league – six points clear of Arsenal, who have played a game more.
And Slot, 46, has been able to achieve Champions League round of 16 qualification alongside his side’s success in the league without having the luxury of a huge transfer budget.
Since he arrived at the club in the summer of 2024, Liverpool have signed just one first-team player with Federico Chiesa making the switch from Juventus last summer.

The Reds also reached an agreement with Valencia for the transfer of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili - although he will not join his teammates until 2025/26.
In the winter window, the club did not sign a player but did see Stefan Bajcetic – loaned to Las Palmas - and Calvin Ramsey – loaned to Kilmarnock – leave the club while 22-year-old goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga signed for Fluminese on a permanent basis.
However, another player left the club in the hours following Monday night’s transfer deadline.
Jayden Danns signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool and will join Championship side Sunderland on loan until the end of the season the club confirmed.

Danns, 19, has scored two goals in seven appearances appearances this season and is a highly thought of at Anfield.
“The striker will complete his rehabilitation on an injury at the AXA Training Centre before linking up with the Championship side for the remainder of 2024-25,” the club said in a statement.
The Black Cats’ director of football Kristjaan Speakman explained how the forward “fits the profile” the club needed.

"Jayden is an extremely talented player, who fits the profile we were searching for,” he said in a club statement.
"His availability was always going to be determined late in the window due to Liverpool's schedule and the demand for him was high, so we worked extremely hard to secure the player.
"It's unfortunate that the medical process highlighted an issue that ultimately requires Jayden to take a period of rest.
"Despite this, he remained highly motivated to come to Sunderland and as such we agreed to collaborate with Liverpool to ensure there is an opportunity for him to join us at a later date."
