Arne Slot to sanction sale of Liverpool player as fans say it would be a 'mistake'

Arne Slot to sanction sale of Liverpool player as fans say it would be a 'mistake'

Two European clubs are thought to be interested in signing the Liverpool player.

Arne Slot is set to sanction the sale of a Liverpool player as fans reckon it would be a 'mistake'.

Slot has yet to recruit any new players following his Liverpool appointment.

But three players have returned to the squad after enjoying loan spells away from Anfield.

Fabio Carvalho spent last season on loan at Hull City while Calvin Ramsay was loaned out to Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers.

Ramsay returned to his parent club before being shipped out on loan to Wigan Athletic for the 2024/25 season.

Sepp van den Berg was also loaned out as he joined Mainz, where he impressed - making 33 Bundesliga appearances.

Despite excelling in pre-season, Van den Berg has been linked with a permanent move away from the club.

That's according to Rik Elfrink, who claims PSV Eindhoven and Stuttgart are interested in signing the defender.

Elfrink claims Liverpool will likely sign off on a deal in the region of €20 million.

PSV, however, are not prepared to go that high but a substantial offer will be made to sign the young Dutchman.

But the idea of selling the 22-year-old doesn't sit well with some Liverpool fans on social media.

They reckon it would be a 'mistake' to allow the player to leave this summer.

One X user wrote: "Calling this now but selling him is gonna be a mistake he’s going to be a world beater."

A second tweeted: "Give him a chance, he has good season in the Bundesliga."

A third added: "Would be a mistake."

Van den Berg joined Liverpool from PEC Zwolle for an initial fee of £1.3 million, which could potentially rise up to £4.4 million if all agreed clauses are activated.

He has yet to feature for Liverpool in a Premier League fixture, having had loan spells at Preston, Schalke and Mainz.
