Liverpool fans pick out passage of play where 'Slot Ball' was in full flow during Preston defeat

Arne Slot’s first match in charge of Liverpool was a behind-closed-doors defeat against Preston North End.

Liverpool fans have picked out one passage of play where ‘Slot Ball’ was in full flow during the defeat against Preston North End.

On Friday afternoon, Arne Slot took charge of Liverpool for the first time in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Championship side Preston North End.

To the surprise of many, Preston came away 1-0 winners thanks to a stunning goal by former Manchester United starlet Robbie Brady, who lobbed goalkeeper Varoslav Jaros from about 40 yards.

Despite the defeat, Liverpool fans found one positive passage of play that showcased Slot’s style of play.

The move ended with a well-timed lobbed pass from Curtis Jones to Mohamed Salah, who then found Harvey Elliott inside the penalty area but the 21-year-old was denied by Preston goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Slot Ball. Would’ve been an incredible goal.”

Another tweeted: “Can't wait for next week when we get to watch the full 90 minutes. But the build up looks promising. That too with young players.”

A third fan added: “17 touches with ease i love it.”

Someone else wrote: “Highly impressed by the little bit I've seen. Don't care abt the result.”

A fifth commented: “I can tell you this for a fact, we are scoring loads of goals from next season.”

Speaking after the match, Slot said: “After two weeks of tough training sessions it’s important to play a game as well. The most important thing is that everybody was fit before the game and they stayed fit during the game as well.

“So, it’s been a good two weeks. Unfortunately the result today was not what we wanted, but they stayed fit, many of them got minutes [and] also a lot of young players got a few minutes so that was a good thing.”

Liverpool will be back in action next weekend when they take on Spanish La Liga side Real Betis at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
