A former MLS player brought up Paris Saint-Germain when he spoke to Lionel Messi during last season's clash against Inter Miami.
Brecht Dejaegere, who made 33 appearances for Charlotte FC before joining Belgian side Kortrijk this summer, came up against Messi on October 21 last year, when his side secured a place in the MLS Cup Playoffs with a 1-0 win.
It was a disappointing end to Messi's first season in Major League Soccer but for Dejaegere, it was a "childhood dream come true" to meet the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.

In fact, after the final whistle in North Carolina, an excited Dejaegere managed to grab a quick chat with the Argentine, who was more than happy to reflect on his time at Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking to Belgian outlet RTBF this month, the 33-year-old opened up on his conversation with Messi.
"At the final whistle, I asked Messi if he felt better in Miami than in Paris," Dejaegere said.

"Messi was surprised, and I told him I had played against him with Toulouse at the Parc des Princes. He didn't remember me... but it was my childhood dream come true. Messi has always been my favourite player
"It was a real thrill to meet him... Messi told me that for him, PSG was 'la merda'. Yes, shit [bursts out laughing]. Because although the Parisians had been very welcoming at first, he had taken a dislike to them after the failure in the Champions League. Messi was booed at every ball by PSG fans and he was fed up."
Even though he'd just faced his idol, Dejaegere says he "didn't dare" ask Messi for his shirt after the game.
"That day, I must have made one or two fouls on him: during the match, you forget who is who but after the match, I didn't dare ask him his jersey," he added.

"Every time, 100 guys do it to him, he's sick of it but I still got Sergio Busquets' . And he even asked me for mine. I was surprised. At home, I have a great collection: Busquets, Mathieu Valbuena, Harry Kane, Julian Draxler, Moussa Dembelé."
Messi has previously discussed his exit from Paris Saint Germain during an interview with ESPN Argentina.
“It was a tough and difficult change for us,” he said. “We didn’t expect to have to leave Barcelona, it wasn’t a choice. It was also a life experience. Being in Paris, I experienced the best thing, which is becoming a world champion.”

He added: "The neighbors were tough, although I don’t hold anything against them. Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as they or I wanted. Honestly, it affects my mood a lot, and it shows on the field. In Paris, on a personal level, I wasn’t doing well."
