Kylian Mbappe’s France teammate reveals what striker told the dressing room about his injured nose

Kylian Mbappe’s France teammate reveals what striker told the dressing room about his injured nose

France superstar Kylian Mbappe suffered a facial injury during the victory against Austria.

One of Kylian Mbappe’s France teammates has revealed what the Real Madrid star told him about his nose injury.

Mbappe was forced off in the closing stages of France’s 1-0 victory over Austria on Monday night after injuring his nose.

The 25-year-old jumped to head the ball before colliding with Austrian defender Kevin Danso’s shoulder, leaving him bleeding from his nose.

Eventually, Mbappe was replaced by France’s all-time top scorer Olivier Giroud as the clock ticked past the 90th minute.

After the match, it was suspected that Mbappe had suffered a broken nose as he took to social media to ask for ideas on what mask he should wear on his next outing for the team.

Speaking in the mixed zone after the contest, Mbappe’s teammate Adrien Rabiot gave a positive update on the striker’s condition.

The Juventus midfielder told tvdellosport: “(Kylian) Mbappé is fine. He said that maybe he’ll be ready for the 3rd match.”

Speaking after the match, France boss Didier Deschamps said: “A broken nose? Apparently yes. His nose is not right at all. We’ll see. Obviously, it’s tonight’s negative. It’s only a nose, but it’s very bothering for us.”

Meanwhile, Austria manager Ralf Rangnick was pleased with his side pushing France all the way.

He said: “I think we shouldn’t talk about luck. We lost. France had more chances. They deserve the win but until full-time, we were in it with two or three good chances. We left everything on the pitch.

“They were tested until the last second. I spoke to (Dayot) Upamecano at full-time and he said he was happy it was over. It shows our performance. Now, it’s about looking to the future and beating Poland on Friday.”

The former Manchester United boss added: “We didn’t always play the right passes, weren’t courageous enough. France had an extraordinary (N’Golo) Kanté but there were spaces behind him.

“Lets not forget the pressure in these kinds of matches and players aren’t always making the right decisions. We won’t reproach them for this but if we had been more courageous, made the right pass, we may have scored.”
