Fenerbahce players will have to follow the three non-negotiables set out by Jose Mourinho with ‘The Special One’ set to take over at the club.

After being sacked by Italian Serie A side AS Roma back in January, the Portuguese has been out of a job.

Mourinho has since been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Manchester United but he is set to take over at Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce.

It has been claimed that the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan will sign a two-year deal with the club.

Often regarded as one of the most successful managers of this generation, Mourinho is known for a tough and no-nonsense approach.

As revealed last year during an interview with Adidas, Mourinho has three non-negotiables that all players have to follow.

Mourinho said: “You have to have a strong personality to say, ‘Okay, I am the boss, I make the decisions. This is not negotiable.’”

The 61-year-old then touched on punctuality, respect and accountability.

He added: “If training sessions start at 10am, I don’t wait one single minute. Even if you’re Diego Maradona, who I never had the pleasure or the honor to coach, to start at 10 is to start at 10.

“The team is the most important thing. Even if you are the best player in the world. A player with the biggest status in the club: the team is the most important thing. Everyone has to follow the rules and show their respect for their colleagues.”

After being asked about what is needed to have the kind of success that he has enjoyed, Mourinho said: “I would say, prepare yourself the best you can; don’t rush into it, too soon—because it’s very hard. So when you take your first coaching job, you have to be ready. If you are not ready for the job, then at the same speed you got the coaching job, at the same speed you’ll lose the job.”
