Jose Mourinho stuns Turkish media with his actions during Fenerbahce training session

Jose Mourinho has started pre-season training at Fenerbahce

Jose Mourinho has started pre-season preparations after taking charge of Fenerbahce and the Turkish media have been shocked.

Mourinho has embarked on his 11th managerial role after being sacked by Roma in January.

The former Chelsea manager was linked with a move to the Premier League as well as the Saudi Pro League but signed a two-year deal to replace Ismail Kartal in Turkey.

Fenerbahce are the country’s most successful side in history but have not won a league title since 2014.

He jetted in to sign his contract after appearing as a pundit for the Champions League final and has now hit the training pitch to prepare his new side for the upcoming season.

The media were assembled pitchside to watch 'The Special One' in action and were shocked by his actions.

As per Sercan Hamzaoğlu, Mourinho went over to the press and greeted them one by one with a ‘very sincere and warm-hearted demeanour’.

The Portuguese will be reunited with Brazilian midfielder Fred after the pair worked together at Manchester United, Mourinho famously admitting he didn’t want to buy the Brazilian in the first place.

Fenerbahce could be playing Champions League football next season but will need to progress through the qualifying stages of the competition.

Speaking about their chances, Mourinho admitted this summer’s Euro 2024 will impact his preparation.

He said: “[It is] hard because we have three rounds of qualifying and in Fenerbahce's case, eight players are at the Euros and they are not coming for pre-season before the first round.

"If I go, you know that I like challenges so we are going to fight to be in the Champions League.”

Mourinho added during his unveiling: “I want to work in Turkish football. I want to help the Turkish league. But the most important thing for me is Fenerbahce.

“From the moment I sign my contract, your dreams are now my dreams.”
