Jordan Henderson sends message to Kyle Walker after controversial post-match interview

Jordan Henderson sends message to Kyle Walker after controversial post-match interview

Jordan Henderson took to social media to message Kyle Walker following his reaction to England's draw against Denmark.

Jordan Henderson praised Kyle Walker's post-match interview following England's underwhelming draw with Denmark.

England drew 1-1 with Denmark in their second Euro 2024 game on Wednesday.

Harry Kane opened the scoring, but the Danes levelled through Morten Hjulmand's long-range goal.

After the game, Gareth Southgate angered fans with his comment on England's midfield.

And people were left unimpressed with Walker's immediate reaction to the result.

Speaking to BBC, the Manchester City defender said: "We're top of the group, so let's try and take the positives.

"We've not lost. We conceded a great strike from outside the box."

He added: "They had the upper hand in certain parts of the game, so we had to start thinking 'what if?'

"The manager has expressed that he wants us to play attacking football, but in tournament football, you have to adapt."

Walker came in for criticism following his post-match interview, but Henderson, who failed to make Southgate's 26-man squad, jumped to his defence.

He urged fans to get behind and trust the England team.

The ex-Liverpool man uploaded an image of Walker during his interview, accompanied with the caption: "Well said Kyle Walker. Too much negativity! Get behind and trust this team!!!"

England cricket star Ben Stokes also hailed Walker's interview.

On X, he wrote: "Class interview that from Kyle Walker…made sure everyone heard they are top of the table but knows there is loads more to improve on, get behind the team and leave the hindsight and negativity to the pundits aye…..come on ENGLAND."

As Walker alluded to in his post-match interview, England currently sit at top of Group C after two matches.

They have four points to their name, two points ahead of second-placed Denmark.

The Three Lions resume their Euros campaign next Tuesday when they face Slovenia.

A win over Slovenia would see them top their group.
