Jordan Henderson has reportedly been stripped of the captaincy at Dutch club Ajax as his situation worsens amid transfer rumours.
Former Liverpool captain Henderson made headlines on Thursday afternoon after it was claimed that he could leave Dutch giants Ajax ahead of Monday's deadline.
As reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, French side AS Monaco 'are closing in on a deal to sign Jordan Henderson from Ajax as new midfielder'.

It has been suggested that Henderson is set to make a permanent move to the club and has agreed to sign a deal until the summer of 2026.
Despite the transfer speculation, the 34-year-old started for Ajax as they took on Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
Ajax came away 2-1 winners and Henderson played 77 minutes before being replaced by Daniele Rugani.

However, despite being named as captain of Ajax at the start of the season, the Englishman was not handed the armband on Thursday night, instead, it went to veteran goalkeeper Remko Pasveer.
When asked about the situation, manager Francesco Farioli dodged the question, he said: "I’m not going to speak about the market. I hear something else every hour, If I start to follow everything I will start getting mad.
"If I could have a clear answer about the situation I’d be more happy to give it, not just about Jordan but about everything we read every two hours."

Reacting to the situation, former Dutch star Wesley Sneijder slammed Henderson.
He said: "Be a man and stand up. Right now you get all this speculation and you create unrest. It could have been much calmer if he had just worn the [captain's] armband."
