BBC staff 'sent strict warning' about Jermaine Jenas after he's sacked following claims of 'inappropriate behaviour'

BBC staff 'sent strict warning' about Jermaine Jenas after he's sacked following claims of 'inappropriate behaviour'

The former midfielder has been taken off air following complaints about workplace conduct.

A new report has published more claims surrounding the BBC's dismissal of Jermaine Jenas.

Jenas, who presented The One Show and appeared on Match of the Day for the BBC, has been taken off air from both primetime shows following complaints about workplace conduct.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up.”

The BBC claim issues involving digital communications such as texts were raised with the corporation a few weeks ago.

Jenas, meanwhile, is 'battling' to clear his name. Speaking on talkSPORT’s Drivetime show after news of his sacking emerged, the former midfielder declared he is "not happy" and is taking legal advice.

"I can’t really talk about it,” he added. “I, as you can probably see, am not happy about it. But currently as it stands I'm going to have to let the lawyers deal with it.

"You know, there's two sides to every story as we know. So that's all I can say right now."

A report from The Mirror has suggested that the former England international has been sacked over claims of 'unsolicited inappropriate texts involving a female employee of The One Show'.

A source via the publication added: “It’s a very sensitive landscape at the BBC at the moment with the various scandals that have beset it of late. Any hint of workplace misconduct and they needed to come down on like a ton of bricks.”

Now, it has been suggested that BBC staff have been ordered not to contact Jenas following his sacking.

That's according to The Sun, who claim a female 'The One Show' colleague raised concerns after Jenas allegedly sent her 'unsolicited flirty text messages'.

A source told the publication: "Presenters, cast and crew have all been asked not to contact him whilst legal matters are ongoing. As a result, a lot of Chinese whispers have been circulating."

They added: “Not even top talent like Alex Jones, Alan Shearer or Gary Lineker knew about this. It was shrouded in secrecy. It has shocked, and rocked, everyone."

Jenas, who earned around £190,000 at the BBC for his work on the FA Cup, Match of the Day and the World Cup, has previously been tipped to replace Gary Lineker on Match of the Day.
