Jamie Carragher bites back at comment from Micah Richards and tells him 'don't start' in tense CBS segment

Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards clashed over Manchester City's banner against Real Madrid.

Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards were involved in a tense exchange on CBS Sports following Real Madrid's victory over Manchester City in the Champions League.

Real beat Man City 3-2 in the first-leg of their Champions League play-off clash on Tuesday.

The holders came from behind as Jude Bellingham netted a late winner to secure an advantage ahead of next Wednesday's second-leg.

Vinicius Jr set up Bellingham as the Brazilian was 'even more motivated' to perform after Man City unveiled a Rodri banner ahead of kick-off.

Man City fans unfurled a Rodri Ballon d'Or banner aimed at Real and Vinicius Jr, who both boycotted the ceremony.

After the game, Carragher and Richards shared their thoughts on the banner and things got heated.

Carragher said: "What do you gain from that?"

Richards fired back, claiming it was just 'banter'.

Carragher continued to bemoan Man City's banner decision to which Richards replied by calling him out for being a 'celebration police'.

The Liverpool legend responded: "Don't start!"

The ex-Man City defender then referenced Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly, who, of course, copied Erling Haaland's celebration in his side's win over Man City.

Carragher, however, refused to mention Lewis-Skelly, with Arsenal fans on social media believing he didn't bring up the teenage star because Thierry Henry was sitting next to him.

Naturally, Carragher and Richards' exchange on CBS Sports got fans online talking.

One X user wrote: "Noted how he didn’t want to talk about MLS too with Henry sitting there, what a coward."

A second argued: "Carra is right, why would you even stoop to that level of pettiness and possibly set yourself up if it was to backfire. Like it has happened tonight."

A third added: "I actually agree with Jamie here. They jinxed themselves. Also with the season Man City are having the should be the last fandom to taunt anyone after the season they are having."

Another commented: "Carra scared to talk about Lewis cos Titi is there."
