Jadon Sancho takes final swipe at Erik ten Hag during first interview as a Chelsea player

Jadon Sancho takes final swipe at Erik ten Hag during first interview as a Chelsea player

Jadon Sancho’s loan move to Chelsea has been confirmed.

Jadon Sancho appeared to aim another dig at Erik ten Hag during his first interview as a Chelsea player.

On Saturday night, it was confirmed that Sancho, 24, has moved to Stamford Bridge on loan for the 24/25 season from Manchester United.

A statement read: “Chelsea is pleased to announce Jadon Sancho has joined the club on loan from Manchester United, with the Blues having an obligation to sign the England international permanently next summer.

“Having completed his switch to Stamford Bridge, Jadon will join his new teammates in the coming days. Welcome to Chelsea, Jadon!”

Speaking to the club’s media for the first time, it appears that Sancho may have indirectly took aim at Ten Hag when talking about Chelsea’s playing style.

He said: “I think it’s the manager who really drew me to the project.

“I knew him from his time with Pep Guardiola in Manchester City. He spoke to me on the phone about this project and what he was building here, and for a young player like myself it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

Sancho added: “They’re signing me for a reason and to contribute to the team, and I’m ready to do that.

“I enjoy his style of play. The wingers when they get on the ball, he loves them to go one versus one and be direct. We play a lot of one-twos with the 10s and the striker combination plays. It’s very attractive and it’s a style that I play.”

Sancho also expressed his excitement of reuniting with some familiar faces.

The winger added: “I know Tosin and Cole Palmer – he was younger than me when I was at City. I haven’t had a chance to speak to them yet, but I’m sure I will soon. They’re going to be looking out for me, I’m sure.

“I want to bring goals and assists. I’m a skilful player and I want to bring excitement to the Bridge. Hopefully, it will turn out well.”
