Jadon Sancho's previous comments on Chelsea have re-emerged following deadline day move

Sancho is set for another spell away from Old Trafford...

Jadon Sancho will be overjoyed in more ways than one after he made a deadline day move to Chelsea.

The former Borussia Dortmund star is set to join the Blues temporarily after Manchester United sanctioned a loan-to-buy switch.

Sancho, 24, has not featured for the Red Devils so far this season and it appears as if all of his childhood dreams are finally about to come true.

Speaking to talkSPORT back in 2021, Sancho admitted he has supported the west London side ever since he was a boy.

He said: “I was a Chelsea fan growing up, I can’t lie!

“Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were my favourite players at the time.

“I just love Frank Lampard and how he played his game; he was so direct and so composed on the ball.

“I like things like that.”

Having joined Manchester United back in 2021, Sancho's time at Old Trafford has been overshadowed in controversy.

A public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag meant the England international spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Dortmund.

Sancho returned to Carrington this summer but further question marks have been raised over his relationship with the Dutchman.

Ten Hag even admitted himself he was pleased with the progress Sancho had made during pre-season, admitting he expected the 24-year-old to stay at the club.

"He is a player in our squad and we are happy with him," said the Red Devils boss in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"We need a good squad, we need depth in the squad.

"We have to play many games until January, [with] the new format of Europe.

"After the break, we will play every third day, so we need, absolutely, options."

Chelsea are expected to confirm the arrival of the former Manchester City academy star at some point over the weekend.
