Gary Lineker has spoken out about a 'totally ridiculous' Jermaine Jenas story that was printed on the front page of a newspaper.
Jenas was sacked by the BBC following an internal investigation into his workplace conduct.
The former Premier League midfielder, who presented The One Show and regularly appeared on Match of the Day, was relieved of his duties following claims he acted inappropriately with several female colleagues.
Jenas later apologised for his behaviour, admitting he sent inappropriate texts to colleagues at the BBC despite being married to his wife Ellie for 13 years.

talkSPORT also dropped for the ex-Newcastle United and Tottenham player while his position at TNT Sports has yet to be confirmed.
Lineker has touched on the Jenas scandal, hitting out at a story claiming he had 'taken a real interest' amid reports he was set to replace him on Match of the Day.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, the Leicester City legend slammed a story that he read on the front page of a newspaper.
"There was one last week," he began. "That was totally ridiculous... a front page story about Jermaine Jenas, who has obviously had his issues of late, the front page story was saying, 'I'd taken a real interest' in this story because possibly Jermaine might take my place."

Lineker completely denied the 'absurd' story, adding: "It was so absurd, and I think it's so absurd that you wouldn't take it seriously."
The 63-year-old has hosted Match of the Day for a whopping 25 years but his long-term future with the BBC remains in doubt after likening the former Conservative Government migrant policy to 'Germany in the '30s'.
Jenas was reportedly seen as the long-term front-runner to replace the former forward before the BBC axed him for his scandal.
