Man Utd make contract decision on Erik ten Hag as staff changes confirmed

Erik ten Hag has almost agreed a new deal at Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag is set to sign a new contract at Manchester United after INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided to keep him on as the club's manager.

Man United decided to keep Ten Hag in place following an end-of-season review after the 2023/24 campaign.

The Red Devils finished in eighth place in the Premier League table, but they somewhat salvaged their season with a win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

Man United had spoken to other managers ahead of potentially replacing the Dutchman, who revealed the chiefs told him that they spoke to Thomas Tuchel.

But a review saw him keep his job, with a new contract close to being finalised, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A new deal is almost agreed' as talks are advancing to final stages this week.

Ten Hag's agent is in negotiations with Man United as Romano claims there will be changes made to his backroom staff amid reports linking Ruud van Nistelrooy back to Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy has been linked with Burnley's vacancy as they look to fill their managerial void following the departure of Vincent Kompany, who joined Bayern Munich.

But Van Nistelrooy has been 'approached' by his former side to take up a position in the backroom staff.

Ten Hag was appointed Man United manager in May 2022 and has steered the club to two pieces of silverware.

He won the Carabao Cup in his debut campaign and, as mentioned, won the FA Cup last season.

Man United secured a third-place finish in his first year in charge, but they endured a dismal league campaign under the 54-year-old last season, finishing in eighth place.
