Alleged David Coote white powder video was 'filmed at Euro 2024' one day after he officiated hugely controversial game

Alleged David Coote white powder video was 'filmed at Euro 2024' one day after he officiated hugely controversial game

A video appearing to show David Coote snort white powder has been released following on from a controversial anti-Liverpool video.

An alleged video of David Coote appearing to snort a white powder is from Euro 2024, reports claim.

Days after he was suspended by the PGMOL over a video where he appeared to make insulting remarks about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, Coote has been embroiled in further controversy.

On Wednesday evening, The Sun acquired and released footage of a man they claim to be Coote, snorting a four inch line of powder with a rolled up US bank note.

The video lasts eight seconds and in the background packets of prescription drugs, a credit card, and the book The Year of The Locust can be seen.

The Sun say that the video was sent to one of Coote's friends on WhatsApp on July - a day after he was a support VAR official for Spain vs Germany at Euro 2024.

It's alleged the video was filmed in his hotel room which was paid for by UEFA as he was chosen to represent the Premier League at the tournament.

The quarter final clash saw Spain beat Germany 2-1 in extra time thanks to a late winner from Mikel Merino. But the game was so controversial that 350,000 fans signed a petition for it to be replayed.

Germany felt they should have been awarded a penalty in extra time when Marc Cucurella blocked Jamal Muisala's shot with his hand but referee Anthony Taylor was unmoved and Stuart Attwell, who was on VAR duty, agreed with the on-field decision.

Coote was supporting Attwell in the VAR room for the fixture.

Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann was left furious after the penalty was not given but the officials followed guidance given to them by Roberto Rosetti, UEFA’s head of referees, ahead of the showpiece.

Rosetti had said he did not want to see penalties awarded in situations where a defender's arm is close to the body and in a near-vertical position.

PGMOL have issued a statement in response to the alleged video, while UEFA have suspended Coote.
