Chelsea fans demand club recall forgotten player who is smashing it on loan and is 'levels above' teammates

Chelsea fans demand club recall forgotten player who is smashing it on loan and is 'levels above' teammates

The player has stood out at one of the best at his loan club.

Chelsea fans have spoken out to demand that the club recalls one player who has been massively impressive since leaving the club on loan.

Despite a turbulent start to his time as manager, Enzo Maresca has led Chelsea to third place in the Premier League table so far this season.

England star Cole Palmer has continued to perform at the impressive levels he showed last season, while players like Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez have improved under the new boss.

However, there is one issue that Chelsea fans are convinced could be fixed if the club were to recall one player who has been smashing it on loan this season.

Young midfielder Andrey Santos left Chelsea in the summer to join Ligue 1 Strasbourg and has stood out as one of the best players in the squad since his arrival.

And with Romeo Lavia regularly sidelined with injuries and the future of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall yet to be decided, fans believe there could be a place for the Brazilian in Chelsea's midfield.

Sharing a photo of Santos' recent Sofascore player ratings on X, one fan wrote: "Andrey Santos since the start of the season. No sub-7 sofascore rating. He has cracked consistency at 20."

Reacting to the photo, one fan asked: "Are you nuts? Bring him back!"

While another added: "I’ve made my mind up. Bring Andrey Santos back."

And one wrote: "Andrey Santos is the truth. I need this lad at Chelsea ASAP"

In his 15 appearances for the French side this season, the 20-year-old has scored an impressive seven goals for a Strasbourg that is struggling this season, sitting 10th in the Ligue 1 table.

Speaking about the impressive performances made by Santos, journalist Graeme Bailey told The Chelsea Chronicle in November: "I think they’re not putting any pressure on. Strasbourg are playing really well, they’re very pleased with how things are going generally.

“In terms of Santos, he’s not gone there and been told to prove himself, but go there and show it. He’s been by far the standout Strasbourg player, and he’s doing exactly what he’s needed to do.”
