Chelsea fans turn on key player after draw against 10-man Nottingham Forest

Chelsea fans turn on key player after draw against 10-man Nottingham Forest

Chelsea were held at home despite Forest playing the final 15 minutes with 10 players.

Chelsea fans have turned on one of their first team players after the 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.

The two teams were involved in a stalemate at Stamford Bridge to end Chelsea's five-match unbeaten run.

The Blues surprisingly went behind through Chris Wood's 50th-minute goal, but Noni Madueke equalised seven minutes later.

However, despite James Ward-Prowse being shown a second yellow card on 78 minutes, Enzo Maresca's side couldn't find a winner.

That was despite them having 21 shots on goal across the match, with Forest's Matz Sels pulling off seven saves.

But Chelsea fans were left furious with one player in particular after the draw - midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues splashed out a British record transfer fee of £106.8 million to sign the Argentina midfielder from Benfica in January 2023.

Though despite struggling to produce top form last season, he has been entrusted to start every Premier League game he has been available for this term while being named as captain during Reece James's injury absence.

However, he came in for heavy criticism for his performance against Forest.

One fan wrote: "Uncomfortable conversations about Enzo Fernandez once this game is over."

A second claimed: "Enzo Fernandez is a big big problem for us. Guy is not performing, and now he's captain so we can't drop him."

A third stated: "Enzo Fernandez... not offering anywhere near enough."

A fourth said: "Enzo Fernandez has been so bad today."

And a fifth fumed: "Enzo Fernandez was the worst player on the pitch."

The draw still means Chelsea stay in the Champions League places, with Aston Villa failing to beat Manchester United in the other early kick-off.

It is the first time that Maresca's side have dropped points since September 1 against Crystal Palace, but they have only won one of their four Premier League games at Stamford Bridge this season.
