Frank Lampard has given his definitive take on the long-standing Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi debate after previously changing his mind.
The former Chelsea midfielder has been asked the 'GOAT' question on numerous occasions over the years.
Back in 2020, Lampard opted for Messi over Ronaldo, saying: "I'm gonna go Messi on this on pure, natural talent. But what Ronaldo has done has been absolutely incredible."

A year later, on an episode of The Overlap, the former England international changed his mind after watching a debate between Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.
Neville described Ronaldo as "the greatest football player who has ever lived" during an episode of Monday Night Football in 2021, and someone who "could win me a football match in the most different ways."
Speaking in 2021, Lampard was bowled over by Ronaldo's record. "You know what, I've always been a Messi man… and then I watched your debate with Jamie Carragher recently," he said

"I actually think for Ronaldo's output and actual numbers, and goals in big finals and semi-finals like we've seen, I think I maybe give him the edge. That's going to start a load of hate, now!"
Almost three years on and Lampard was once again asked to give his take on the Ronaldo vs Messi debate during an interview with TNT Sports Mexico.
The 46-year-old was far more reserved about his answer this time around, saying they both sit at the top together.
“I don’t like this conversation,” Lampard began. “I played against both, more with Cristiano when he was at Manchester United and with Messi I played against a lot in some big games between Chelsea and Barcelona.

"Messi for me individually for talent is the greatest ever probably, in my opinion.”
"But with Cristiano, what he did in terms of what he made himself and the numbers, output, goals, and dedication—even now to this day—means that they’re just there together.”
He added: “I have to respect them both in the same way. I don’t think it’s fair to try and put one above the other. I think they’ve been the most amazing players, and I’m honored that I could play against them."
