Real Madrid could be hit with a sanction from UEFA after their fans began singing a disgraceful chant about Pep Guardiola during the match against Manchester City.
On Wednesday evening, Champions League holders Real Madrid knocked Premier League champions Manchester City out of the European competition in a dominant 3-1 display at the Santiago Bernabeu.
A hat trick from star summer signing Kylian Mbappe, backed up by a 3-2 win for Madrid in the first leg of the tie, have the home fans plenty to celebrate during the thrilling Champions League clash.

However, it has now been revealed that some Madrid fans took things to far with one chant aimed at City boss Guardiola, and the La Liga club may be subject to a punishment from UEFA in response.
It's no secret that Guardiola isn't popular amongst Real Madrid fans, not only due to recent mega matches against City, but also due to his close relationship with the Spanish side's historic rivals, Barcelona.
But that in no way excuses the fact that, according to Spanish outlet Marca, some fans began singing homophobic chants aimed at the City manager during the game.

The report claims that Madrid fans were heard chanting: "Oh, Guardiola, you look so thin. First it was the drugs. Today you can see it in Chueca."
Chueca is an area in the centre of Madrid that is known as the Spanish city's gay neighbourhood.
Madrid fans then continued to plague the Catalan manager with chants asking him to stay at City in light of their poor form this season, before a series of oles rang out across the Bernabeu.

In response to the chants, it is very possible that UEFA could launch an official investigation which could lead to Madrid being hit with a punishment ranging from a fine or even a stadium ban.
During Euro 2024 last summer, the European governing body sanctioned seven of the 24 competing countries because of racist or discriminatory behaviour by fans.
The Serbian, Croatian, Romanian, Slovenian, Austrian, Hungarian and Albanian Football Associations were all given punishments such as fines or a ban from selling tickets to the next UEFA away match.
And just four months ago, Paris Saint-Germain were forced to close part of the Parc des Princes for their Ligue 1 match against Toulouse as part of a punishment handed to them by Ligue 1 for homophobic chanting.
