The reason why Bayern Munich will not be allowed to wear their red kit against Celtic in the UEFA Champions League has been revealed.
German giants Bayern were left disappointed last season after they were beaten to the Bundesliga title by Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.
This time around, under new boss Vincent Kompany, the Bavarians currently hold a healthy eight-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
In the Champions League, Bayern finished 12th place in the first phase of the competition, meaning they will need to beat Scottish side Celtic over two legs to seal a place in the last 16.

Ahead of the first leg on Wednesday, it has been reported that Bayern will not be able to wear their iconic home kit despite there being no colour clash with Celtic's shirt.
Bayern Munich banned from wearing iconic home kit in the UEFA Champions League
As reported by the Daily Mail, Bayern have been banned from wearing their home kit in the Champions League by UEFA due to the 'dark numbers on the jersey, which they claim do not offer enough contrast for viewers'.
During their last league phase match, Bayern took on Slovan Bratislava at the Allianz Arena and were seen wearing their away kit due to the UEFA ban.

However, the report did state that Bayern will be allowed to use their home kit if modifications are made to the shirt numbers and names.
Ahead of the match, which will be held at the iconic Celtic Park, manager Brendan Rogers said: "It'll be an amazing game to look forward to.
"We earned the right to play the game so we'll have 60,000 super-charged souls in here on Wednesday night and I can't wait for it."

He added: "It's a big test for us, a big challenge but we'll look to bring our very best game and see what happens.
"We play at home, we always feel with the support, and especially how we've done this year in the competition, how we've been progressing at this level, we will give everything we can. We know we're playing against a top team with top players but we want to always make it really difficult for every team we play against."
