Kai Havertz's wife has revealed the shocking death threats she was subjected to after the Germany missed a crucial penalty as Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United.
The Gunners were beaten on penalties at the Emirates after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes of action. United went ahead through captain Bruno Fernandes early on in the second half but just over 10 minutes later and they were on level terms and a man less as Gabriel Magalhaes levelled moments after Diogo Dalot saw red for a second yellow.
Havertz won a penalty in controversial fashion when he went down under the challenge of Harry Maguire, though United's second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir produced a fine save to deny captain Martin Odegaard.
The clash went all the way to spot-kicks, where Havertz, having missed a sitter in the game, saw his effort saved by Bayindir. United were flawless from 12 yards and it was under-fire Joshua Zirkzee who bagged the winner, slotting home to set up a fourth round fixture with Leicester City.
Havertz's family receives death threats
The unfortunate miss for the former Chelsea forward brought the absolute worse amongst a section of fans on social media. Havertz's other half Sophia, who is pregnant, took to Instagram to post screenshots of the vile abuse she received.

The images showed horrific messages pertaining to Havertz, Sophia and their unborn child.
Reacting, she said: "For anyone to think it's okay to write something like this is so shocking to me. I hope you are so ashamed of yourself.
"I'm not sure what to even say but guys please be more respectful. We are better than this."

He also stated that he was "proud" of the performance from his players despite the loss.
“It’s unbelievable,” he said, as per the BBC.
“Obviously, you measure the performance and what we did in relation to the position, you deserve to win the game by a mile. But the reality is we are out and the only thing that’s going to be judged but internally I can’t.
“I love my players. I love our team and I love how good they are and what they do because in 1000 games like this, you lose one and probably it was this one. ... It’s football and it is a part of that execution, you need things to go your way and tonight it didn’t. When you go to penalties you know that it’s a flip of the coin and it can go either way. .... I’m so proud of my players. I love my players and I cannot be prouder because it’s very difficult to demand something else than the performance that they put in there.”
