Fans think Myles Lewis-Skelly is going to the very top after hearing what he said to Ian Wright after Arsenal win

Fans think Myles Lewis-Skelly is going to the very top after hearing what he said to Ian Wright after Arsenal win

The former Gunners forward spoke to the youngster after the victory against Tottenham.

Arsenal fans think Myles Lewis-Skelly could become a world-class player following his performance in the 2-1 win against Spurs on Wednesday – and Ian Wright was impressed.

Lewis-Skelly, 18, performed excellently when he started at left-back in the North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium last night.

The London-born academy product has impressed Mikel Arteta with mature performances this season and he only made his senior debut during the 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad back in September.

And as ever Wright, 61, was pleased to see his former club beat their arch rivals. After the match, he spoke to the youngster.

The pundit asked if going into the game the full-back was “afraid” of facing the likes of Dejan Kulusevksi or Brennan Johnson.

But the teenager’s response has captured the attention of Arsenal fans.

“Never, never, never afraid of no one,” a self-assured Myles-Skelly told Wright when speaking to Optus Sport.

“I want to go against the best. I want to be the best.”

The young full-back also gave a heartwarming insight into why he was so switched on during the match.

"I had to put on a show for my grandma, make sure that I was winning my tackles for her, make sure I didn't look soft in front of her, and hopefully she's proud of me,” he added.

“It was amazing man; it's everything I lived up to in my dreams. Wow, I just couldn't believe it. I had to take in every moment. I feel like a million dollars!"

And fans on social media were quick to give their thoughts.

One said: "He has that [Jude] Bellingham swagger."

Another added: "[Ethan] Nwaneri is the highly rated one, but maybe is MLS the chosen one (similar to Emile Smith-Rowe/Saka pathway).

"Last time I had this feeling of an 18 yr old was with [Bukayo] Saka, [William] Saliba. 18-year-old with brain of a 30-year-old.

"Strong as an ox. Calmness superiority that verges on boredom."

A third explained: "We should've realised he isn't scared of anyone when he squared up to [Erling] Haaland and the Etihad. Warrior."

Myles-Skelly will be hoping to retain his place in Arteta's side when Arsenal face Aston Villa at the Emirates on Saturday evening.
