The former Chelsea striker is expected to make his debut against Nurnberg but will have to do so from the bench, after missing out on a place in Arteta's starting line-up.
Arsenal team to face Nurnberg
Arteta has named a relatively strong side to take on the 2.Bundesliga side, with several of last-season's starters taking part in the pre-season encounter from the start.
Indeed, William Saliba, fresh from having agreed a new four-year contract with the club, plays his first game since suffering an injury in the second leg of a Europa League tie against Sporting back in March.
Elsewhere, Thomas Partey is named in the starting line-up despite the Ghana international having been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and Serie A.

Meanwhile, Reiss Nelson makes his first start since signing a four-year deal of his own, while Arsenal's talisman, Martin Bukayo Saka also features.
However, club captain Martin Odegaard was replaced by Fabio Vieira ahead of kick off, having picked up a slight knock in the warm up.
Cedric, Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun, who have all been linked with transfers away, have been named on the bench against Nurnberg.
And curiously, Alex Runarsson, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Rob Holding, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mohamed Elneny, Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos won't feature against the German outfit.
