Alexander Isak denied goal by 'worst offside decision ever seen' as fans left baffled by VAR error

Alexander Isak denied goal by 'worst offside decision ever seen' as fans left baffled by VAR error

VAR had a shocker during Sweden vs. Azerbaijan.

Alexander Isak was denied a goal by the 'worst offside decision ever seen' as fans genuinely cannot believe the VAR error.

Sweden battered Azerbaijan 6-0 in Tuesday's Nations League clash as Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres bagged a stunning four goals.

Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski also netted against the European minnows, bagging a brace.

Newcastle United forward Isak, however, failed to get on the score-sheet despite finding the back of the net.

His goal was scratched off for offside following a bizarre VAR review.

Replays show Isak was ONSIDE when the ball was played into him as VAR had drawn the wrong lines.

VAR had drawn lines from Isak when Gyokeres had originally picked up the move inside his own half.

Naturally, fans on social media fumed over the decision.

One X user wrote: "Possibly the worst offside decision I've ever seen I still can't work out how Isak's goal has been ruled out."

A second said: "Isak’s goal has just been ruled out for offside. Replays make no sense. Referee Raczkowski from Poland and his VAR-team are having a disaster after missing out on a clear penalty for Sweden as well."

A third added: "This is absolutely shocking."

After the final whistle, Isak revealed that he and his teammates spoke to the officials over the shocking offside call.

"How is that possible? Seriously. It's almost the worst I've seen," he said via Sweden Herald.

"I'm happy, of course, that we win, but I score a goal that should be allowed, then it's clear that you get annoyed.

"I don't think I've ever experienced anything like this at this level when I've been involved.

"You've seen a lot of mistakes, but this one was pretty rough. The VAR referees stood in the player tunnel at halftime.

"We argued with them, but they stuck to their decision that they had made the right call."
