Liverpool and Chelsea target Enzo Fernandez has been axed from the Benfica squad amid growing uncertainty over his future, according to a report.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are said to have registered an interest in the World Cup winner, while Chelsea have reportedly seen a cash-plus-player offer rejected for the midfielder.
Portuguese publication Record claimed the Blues offered Benfica some €90million (£79million), Hakim Ziyech on a permanent deal, and youngsters David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos on loan.

However Fernandez has an eye-watering £106million buy-out clause, and the Portuguese giants are said to want the entire sum in cash up-front.
Indeed, though the club in question was not named, Benfica boss Roger Schmidt labelled the pursuit of Fernandez “disrespectful” and said he “can’t accept” the behaviour of the interested party.
Fernandez to be axed from Benfica squad
Fernandez, who was named the World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament, returned to the Benfica line-up to face Braga in a 3-0 defeat.

The 21-year-old then flew back to Argentina, to the displeasure of his manager, who then claimed the midfielder may have played his last game for The Eagles.
And now Portuguese publication A Bola are reporting that Fernandez will not feature in Benfica’s next match against Portimonense amid speculation surrounding his future.
It has been widely reported that Fernandez has informed Benfica he wishes to leave the Stadio da Luz, having only signed for the club last summer.

Moreover, last week transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claimed Chelsea had already agreed to personal terms with the midfielder.
While Liverpool appear to have been pipped to the line by Chelsea for Fernandez’s signature, the Reds retain an interest in England star Jude Bellingham.
Meanwhile, Klopp’s side are said to be keen on Brighton’s 21-year-old midfield star, Moisés Caicedo.
