Fans are only just discovering the former Premier League player who is set to be part of Thomas Tuchel's coaching staff at England.
After reports emerged he had agreed to replace Gareth Southgate as permanent boss, Tuchel was officially announced as the new Three Lions boss on Wednesday.
He has penned an 18-month contract which will commence on the 1 January 2025, meaning Lee Carsley will take charge of two final fixtures before heading back to the Under 21s.

Tuchel, who left Bayern Munich at the end of the season, is said to earn a wage between £4.5 million and £5 million.
And details have emerged on who will be joining him within the backroom staff. Anthony Barry, who worked with Tuchel at both Chelsea and Bayern and has coached for the likes of Portugal and Belgium, will assist Tuchel at St George's Park.
However, a surprising update indicates that a former Chelsea star will also be involved.

Journalist Nathan Gissing claims ex Blues goalkeeper Hilario is to take a part-time role with England.
The 48-year-old spent eight years at Chelsea between 2006 and 2014 as a back-up goalkeeper, playing 39 times.
After retirement, he later returned to Chelsea under Antonio Conte and was the club's goalkeeping coach under Maurizio Sarri.

He still has that very same position under new boss Enzo Maresca.
It's claimed that Tuchel is further using his relations with Chelsea, with a video analyst also expected to join.
