UFC star Paddy Pimblett has issued a response after receiving criticism for his actions in the wake of England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain.
England lost 2-1 in the European Championship final on Sunday, with Mikel Oyarzabal’s late winner subjecting the Three Lions to 60 years of hurt.
And Pimblett, while watching the game at a pub, filmed himself on social media celebrating Spain’s win while shouting insults at his friends around him.

“Yes! Look at all your faces, you f**ing Woolybacks,” he taunted.
“Yes! F**king get in! You gang of f**king Wool’s. You gang of Woollyback’s! You f***ing mings!”
‘Woolyback’ is a Scouse insult to describe someone who lives in the area but isn’t actually from Liverpool.
While Pimblett’s entourage appeared to take the wild outburst in good faith, the UFC star received criticism for his joy when celebrating Spain’s decisive goal.

In response, Pimblett took to Instagram to explain his behaviour.
He wrote: “So a lot of ppl are making a big deal out of this video so I’m putting it up myself for yous all to see.
“I had a bet with a few of my mates in the pub and if England wud have won I wudda had to pay out £3000, also everyone jumped on me and celebrated on me 10 mins earlier when England scored. How can yous expect me not to return the favor a few mins later.”

On a second slide, he continued to explain: “That’s what it feels like winning 3k in the last minute of the match anyone that says they wouldn’t celebrate winning a bet like that yous are absolutely crazy.”
Like many Liverpudlians, Pimblett has previously explained he doesn’t support the men’s England national team due to derogatory chants that are sometimes sung out by supporters of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals.
LADbible Group has contacted Pimblett's representatives for comment.
