Kyle Walker rinsed for post-match interview after England's disappointing draw vs Denmark

Kyle Walker rinsed for post-match interview after England's disappointing draw vs Denmark

Kyle Walker spoke to the BBC after England drew 1-1 with Denmark in their second game at Euro 2024.

Kyle Walker was slated on social media for his post-match interview after England's draw with Denmark.

The Three Lions went 1-0 up in the 18th minute courtesy of Harry Kane's 64th goal for his country.

But much like against Serbia on Sunday, the team dropped deeper and Morten Hjulmand levelled matters with a sublime strike in the first half.

Gareth Southgate's side became incredibly sloppy and ultimately passed on the chance to top the group with a game to spare.

They remain top of the group and that is something England vice captain Walker stressed in his BBC post-match interview, as he said: "We're top of the group. We know we can do better. Sometimes in tournament football you have to manage the game."

But fans did not agree with his assessment of the game and let him know about it on social media.

One wrote: "Kyle Walker just said that people want to see the team win 3, 4 or 5 nil, but that’s not football. He plays for Manchester City."

Another said: "Kyle Walker is rattled."

A third commented: "Kyle Walker that was horrific."

A fourth person fumed: "That Kyle Walker interview shows the mentality of this squad. S****."

A fifth added: "That post match interview from Kyle Walker is the strangest thing I’ve ever seen, he’s got no clue just yapping."

A final user made the point: "When you listen to that Kyle Walker interview, it's as if the England players spent the entire build-up thinking of how they'd defend themselves when they failed to win."

England have collected four points from their first two games and are therefore two points clear of both Denmark and Slovenia going into the final match against the latter at the RheinEnergieStadion Tuesday.

A win will still see them top the group on seven points and progress to the round of 16 fixture on 30 June.
