Jamie Carragher named three players he would have called up to the England squad.
On Thursday Southgate boldly announced his England squad ahead of the European Championship in Germany, cutting a provisional 33-man group to the required 26.
Eyebrows were raised when Southgate dropped Jack Grealish and Harry Maguire from the group travelling to Germany, as well as James Maddison, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, James Trafford and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Instead, the likes of Adam Wharton, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon and Jarrod Bowen were all selected.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw has made the final 26-player squad with Southgate confirming that the left-back could be fit for the Three Lions' second group game with Denmark on June 20.
Upon his selection, Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool star Carragher named a 26-person squad of his own on Instagram.

Notably, Carragher’s line-up, which was posted on his Instagram story, included the dropped Branthwaite, Maddison and Grealish.
On X, Carragher added: "Lots of bigger names than Jarrad Branthwaite have missed out on the England squad, but he should've been picked to go to Euro 2024 he's England’s present and future."
Upon naming his squad Southgate said in a press conference: "We're excited about what we have. Obviously, we are going into a tournament with the unknown as to what will play out.

"But we have a lot of experience in the group in tournaments but also big matches at club level. All of that adds into the mix of us being a really good team."
On England's main leaders, Southgate added: "Leadership is a very important part of any successful team. We still have a lot of players with 50 or more caps, Jordan Pickford, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Declan Rice and Harry Kane.
"Kieran Tripper is very close to that figure. We have young leaders as well, so we've always been blessed that we have leaders in the group."
