David de Gea has broken his silence and sent a heartfelt message to Manchester United fans after conceding a staggering seven times against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Red Devils were in stunning form under Erik ten Hag since the end of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but United suffered a major collapse against Liverpool at Anfield.
Cody Gakpo fired Liverpool into a first-half lead with a stunning finish before Jurgen Klopp’s men blew United out of the water with a sensational second-half display.

Gakpo completed his brace only five minutes after the brace, with both Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah scoring twice each in the second half.
Roberto Firmino, who is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, completed Liverpool’s 7-0 steamrolling of United in the 88th minute.
Following United’s humiliating defeat, De Gea took to Twitter and acknowledged his side’s “disastrous” display at Anfield and said he and his teammates have a “duty to this club.”

The 32-year-old Spaniard wrote: “I know these message [sic] don’t sit well on such a day.
“This was a disastrous moment for us and these results shouldn’t happen, especially with the journey we are all on.
“We have a duty to this club, a responsibility to represent the badge but we have many opportunities to look ahead, many games coming fast and we have to lock our focus on these.”
United manager Ten Hag has called on his players to send a strong statement after their “unacceptable” collapse against fierce Premier League rivals Liverpool.

“We have seen in the past we can bounce back. After Brentford, after Manchester City. This is definitely a strong setback and is unacceptable,” he said.
“We let the fans down and I’m really disappointed and angry about it.
“It is a reality check... It’s a strong message [that] we get.”
