Jamie Carragher claimed Liverpool need Darwin Nunez back from injury “as soon as possible”.
Nunez has been under pressure since his £85million arrival from Benfica last summer, the same window Manchester City signed Erling Haaland.
Since Haaland has managed some 27 goals for City, 21 of which have come in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Nunez has scored 10 times, with five of them coming in the league.

The Uruguayan’s goal return is respectable. His 10 goals in 23 appearances for Liverpool is more than Sadio Mane, Michael Owen and Luis Suarez managed at the same point.
However, Nunez has received criticism from a number of quarters for his erratic style and lack of composure. He has missed 15 big chances - more than any other player in the league.
Despite his mixed start in England, former Liverpool star Carragher cited Nunez as a player the club could not afford to lose.
Carragher on Nunez
Carragher claimed that Liverpool missed Nunez in their 3-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend.

After the Reds’ toothless display against the Seagulls, Jurgen Klopp claimed the performance was one of the worst of his coaching career.
And Carragher insisted the result was largely down to Liverpool missing Nunez, who was sidelined through injury.
Speaking on The Kopite Podcast Carragher said: “I think Nunez was a massive miss at Brighton.
“As of late we’ve been playing in basketball games, but against Brighton, we got battered.

“We never looked like scoring. With Nunez, I know he misses chances, but you always feel like something is going to happen.
“Right now I want Nunez back as soon as possible.
“All of those players are important, Van Dijk of course, the attackers, we have nothing from the bench at the top-end of the pitch.”
