Ronaldo was visibly furious and attempted to storm off without interacting with anybody.
Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News claims McClaren requested Ronaldo go to the away supporters and show his respect.
In footage posted to social media by James Robson, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner can be seen exchanging words with someone off camera before making his way to the touchline.

Ronaldo then walked past manager Erik ten Hag without shaking his hand.
The 37-year-old's future has been a hot topic all summer and he's keen to leave Old Trafford for a second time.
United's failure to qualify for the Champions League saw Ronaldo make his intentions to leave the club clear as he wants to play in the competition.

Nobody in Europe has made a bid however and the only concrete interest has come from Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo scored 18 goals in the Premier League last term after signing from Juventus.
United are bottom of the league for the first time since August 1992 after losing their opening two games.
They've added Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez to their squad this summer but still need more.

Martinez has endured a nightmare start to life in England and was replaced at halftime on Saturday evening by Raphael Varane.
Eriksen, meanwhile, was at fault for Brentford's second goal after being dispossessed in his own box by Mathias Jensen.
