Italian football team Como, managed by Arsenal legend Cesc Fabregas announced last month that the club has acquired the rights to stream their game live on the team's broadcast channel Como TV.
The broadcasts will be free to residents in the UK and USA in a groundbreaking streaming initiative.
Como 1907 currently plays in Serie B in Italy after they gain promotion from the third tier in Italian football, Serie C in 2021. Cesc Fabregas joined the club in 2022 where he primarily played for the club and then became involved higher up in the Italian team. The ex-Chelsea midfielder was announced as the club’s manager in November and is his first foray into football management.
The Spaniard’s first game in management was also the stream's debut match and it turned out to be a ding-dong battle as Como 1907 ran out 2-1 winners against bottom side FeralipSalo. In an entertaining battle, both teams had a man sent off with Como 1907 scoring in the dying seconds to give Fabregas an inaugural win as manager.
Since the victory, Como remains unbeaten after a goalless home draw against Lecco and a 1-0 away win at Sudtirol.
The team from Northern Italy currently occupy a semi-final playoff position in third place with Venezia and Parma six points ahead of them in first and second respectively.
Mirwan Suwarso, official representative of the ownership group of Como 1907, said: “Como may be a small Italian club, but it resides in one of the most beautiful locations globally with some of the most passionate fans. With this move we can bring the excitement and atmosphere of a game to a brand new audience. It's a chance for football enthusiasts to witness Como’s new artistic approach to football.”
The channel will not only feature live games, but also highlights, press conferences and showcase the beautiful city of Como on the Swiss-Italian border.
