Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has ended up sticking his foot firmly in his mouth, with his attempts at reassuring fans completely backfiring.
It's nearly a year since Boehly, and the consortium that he fronts, bought Chelsea from Roman Abramovich, three years after he'd made an initial offer to the Russian.
In that time, the American has managed to go through three managers, with Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter having already departed and Frank Lampard currently in charge.

Already some have called for the club's all time top scorer to resign, with the team having lost all six games he's taken charge of.
It's so bad for the Blues right now, that there's still an outside chance that they could be dragged into a relegation battle, although it's highly unlikely.
No matter what small chance of that there is, they wouldn't be even be in that conversation at the start of May in any other campaign.

Having spent a ludicrous amount of money on transfer already in the past year, Boehly is tasked with getting the club out of their current predicament.
Speaking to Sky Sports he tried to allay their fears, saying, "The fans are demanding.
"You know they want to win and we get that we want to win so you know, I think our view though was that this is a long-term project and you know we're committed to the long-term.
"We very much believe that we're going to figure it out.

"We've got the best league in the world, we've got what I think is the top city in the world and we've got an unbelievable location in the top city in the world."
The problem is, admitting you're going to 'figure it out' is not exactly the vote of confidence in your own ability that is going to put fans at ease.
Unsurprisingly that's exactly how they feel about the statement, "Does he know Chelsea can be relegated if they lose all the remaining matches," asked one fan.

"He knows nothing about football, he's just a businessman who puts money in a club to have fun... But this club is Chelsea, which is not a toy!", said a second.
A third sarcastically added, "'We’ll figure it out,' I’ve never been so reassured."
Again using the owner's own words, another stated, "'We knew this was a long term project'… appoints a new manager and then sacks him a couple of months later."
"It’s the short-term I’m worried about," argued a fifth.

And a sixth simply stated, "5 billion to 'figure it out.'"
