Footage showing Casemiro’s crunching challenge on James Milner has resurfaced after the Real Madrid midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester United.
It has been widely reported that United are closing in on securing a deal for Casemiro, thought to be around £60 million. And now, a clip of him clattering into the Liverpool player has gone viral again.
One of the reason for the clip to be brought back is because if United get Casemiro over the line quick enough, he could potentially make his debut on Monday, against Liverpool.
The video takes us back to April of 2021, when Madrid took a 3-1 first leg lead back to Anfield in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were up for it as they had to chase the game, and Milner went in strongly on Karim Benzema after just a few minutes.
The challenge was not a pretty one as Milner was lucky not to receive his marching orders, in fact he was so lucky he did not even get booked.
Casemiro however did not forget that challenge as later on in the first half, he got his revenge on the Englishman on behalf of Benzema.
The Brazilian clattered into Milner, sending him flying off the pitch, right in front of the Liverpool substitute bench.

Andy Robertson was not a fan of the challenge as he raced over to express his discontent towards the Brazilian.
Madrid eventually did get the last laugh as they held on to draw 0-0, meaning they were the ones into the semi finals in Liverpool’s expense.
Casemiro is famed for his combative nature in the centre of the park, something United are desperately crying out for.

Erik ten Hag’s current midfield choices have often been described as soft. But the main concern is that none of the midfielders look capable of playing in the style that the Dutchman wants.
As shown in their first two league games as they were comprehensively beaten by Brighton and Brentford. In the aftermath of both defeats, the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay were the main targets for criticism.
Aside from Casemiro, United have been keen on Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong since the first day of the summer transfer window.

In what is a never ending transfer saga, it looks like United have been forced to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements.
Despite a fee being agreed between the two clubs in July, De Jong has been adamant that he wants to remain with the Catalan giants. The 25-year-old is believed to be settled in the city and wants to fight for a place in Xavi’s team.
