Carlo Ancelotti has personally phoned Championship side Blackburn Rovers to recommend Duncan Ferguson for their vacant manager's position.
Ferguson was Ancelotti's assistant during his 18 month stint at Everton and the duo became one of English football's greatest odd-couples.

Current Real Madrid boss Ancelotti has always been an astute tactician, while Ferguson made his name as a vocal player and coach.
The Sun are unsure of the former Toffees forward would make the move to Ewood Park but received a glowing reference from four-time Champions League winner 'Don Carlo'.
Blackburn parted ways with Tony Mowbray at the end of this season after failing to reach the playoffs.

Ferguson has been Everton caretaker manager on two occasions and is still loved by fans on Merseyside.
Reports linked him with a sensational move to Real when Ancelotti returned there last summer, but that failed to materialise.

Rafael Benitez replaced Ancelotti but didn't last long at Goodison Park, being sacked in January.
That's when Ferguson stepped in for his second spell as caretaker manager and after doing so, he received a message from Ancelotti.
In a press conference, the 50-year-old revealed: "Carlo was a fantastic manager. I learned a lot from the man.

“He was a great manager, he was a great tactician, he was great with the lads, a great man manager so he was a real inspiration to me.
"He had the team flying really did he not at one point? And just towards the back end of the season, we just tailed off a little bit.
"So, I learned a lot from Carlo. I have already spoken to Carlo, he called me actually.
"I have got a lot of information from Carlo, he is a great guy. Unbelievable manager, one of the best the world has ever seen. I have learned a lot from him.”

Ferguson is still involved with Everton as part of Frank Lampard's backroom staff.
