Ladies and gentlemen, we have a serious contender for the 2024/25 goal of the season award after Benjamin Sesko produced one of the cleanest strikes you're ever likely to see.

The 21-year-old striker, who is widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in world football, has been linked with several clubs in recent months, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

And the Slovenia international will have done his reputation no harm on Sunday afternoon, when he netted a spectacular goal in the Bundesliga clash between RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen.

Just two minutes into the second-half, Sesko handed Leipzig a two-goal advantage after he unleashed a powerful effort from around 30 yards out – a shot that was later clocked at 126.43 km/h.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the goal.

One said: "Benjamin Sesko’s strike. So precise to the top corner that the keeper couldn’t get a hand. So powerful that if the keeper did get a hand it would very likely break a bones."

A second wrote: "Benjamin Sesko is an alien. Just look at that ball-striking," and a third commented: "Bro Sesko is the real deal man. The best shot I've ever seen."

A fourth said: "This is why Sesko is superior to Delap/Duran, even Samu/Osimhen if his development goes smoothly. He's got wicked ball striking, tecky on the ball, killer in transition and moves well in the box. The full package."

A fifth added: "If you’ve not seen this goal, make sure you stay to watch it. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW. What a strike from Sesko!"

Sesko, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this season, signed a one-year contract extension with the Bundesliga club in June.

A month later, he explained why he decided to stay at the Red Bull Arena, despite attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.

Speaking to Nogomania, Sesko said: "I thought it through very well. I believe I made the right decision. I wanted to gain more experience, learn more, and not rush things. Leipzig is an excellent club that can provide what I need for the next step.

"Leipzig's vision is clear; everything is geared towards growth, progress, and high goals. I felt it was right to decide this way."

Sesko was also asked how he managed to block out the transfer rumours before penning a new deal.

He added: "I can’t deny such things don’t get into your subconscious, it’s probably quite normal, human. Still, I remained calm despite everything. I got through that turbulent period and approached the Euro fully focused."
