An Arsenal legend has ‘revealed the club’s stance’ regarding the potential transfer of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko, 21, is currently one of the most in-form strikers in Europe and was once again on target during his side’s 2-1 win against Sporting CP in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Last week, The Telegraph reported that Arsenal were “long-term admirers” of the Leipzig striker and were keen to “explore a deal in the summer”.
It is thought that a deal in the January window would be “highly expensive”. Of course, last summer, Arsenal were heavily linked with the Slovenia international but he was “reluctant” to sign for Mikel Arteta’s side due to concerns he would not be regularly starting due to Kai Havertz being the Gunners’ first-choice forward, according to the Mail.

The Leipzig forward has scored 14 goals and registered three assists in 26 appearances for the Bundesliga side this season as well as boasting 16 strikes in his 39 caps for Slovenia despite still being 21 years old.
Sesko’s current contract is set to run until June 2029, having penned a new deal at the club in June 2024.
However, The Athletic reported that there is a "gentlemen’s agreement between Sesko and Leipzig, likely in place of a contractual release clause, that will allow him to leave for the right project. This figure will be discussed before an acceptable range is reached”.

Sesko’s last contract was thought to have contained a £55m release clause.
Former Arsenal and England ‘keeper David Seaman has revealed what he knows about the current situation.
"Everybody is talking about signing a new striker and that does look like what we need,” he told talkSPORT. “It looks like we’re trying to get a striker but to get a marquee striker, the finished article, in January… that doesn’t happen very often.
"Kai Havertz isn’t an out-and-out striker but he’s scored some important goals. It’s frustrating because I can feel the fans’ frustration growing. There’s a few rumblings now because we’re not where we want to be.

"I know for a fact that they’re trying like mad to get one but whether it will be now or the summer, I don’t know. There’s ones in the pipeline so we will have to wait and see if they get done."
